Older sets have CRT tubes, are extremely bulky, heavy and in most cases not very attractive. They produce a picture that is not crisp and of poor quality. This is the version of television many of us are accustomed to seeing in our parents house or the one we remember as a kid. They will not produce the picture that you want with a DVD player producing high definition. Some will think the bigger the better and this is not the case when it comes to various styles of televisions. A good example of this would be the rear projection models. They are extremely heavy, expensive to repair should a bulb burn and they produce the worst high definition picture. The screen will make the picture have somewhat of a distorted appearance. These televisions are not recommended for optimum high definition viewing. The plasma televisions are large and have flat panels. They are excellent options due to the awesome picture produced, the entire set is very thin, and they have great color production. The screen is created with two thin glass panels with a gas in between that helps to produce the great picture. These are slightly more expensive than an LCD television but, are excellent choices for creating a home theater. An LCD television also is a great choice for a high definition DVD player. The LCD is an abbreviation for liquid crystal display which is very similar to the screen found on a computer. They can be expensive and will be difficult to watch when viewing from the side angle. The picture is still seen but will lose detail when viewing at an angle. Next is the DVD player for creating your theater room. These come in a vast majority of styles, shapes and price. There are DVD players ranging in price from ten dollars to a thousand or more. It completely depends on the quality of picture you are interested in and accessories desired in the system. Each will play in any of the television sets discussed above. Purchasing a television capable of high definition does not mean that using a ten dollar DVD player attached to it will produce a theater style picture. The picture will be good but not what one would imagine. If your goal is to have high definition DVDs you will need a Blu Ray player. These have phenomenal quality produced pictures. The price can be expensive but, the good news is they have gone done in price over the recent months. When preparing to purchase this model it is recommended to search online or by visiting local electronic stores to compare prices. They will vary from store to store in price. They are also available for purchase online or through online auctions. Read the advertisement completely if purchasing through an auction. In most cases these items cannot be returned or must be done within a few days. If the product is extremely less expensive than others just like it, the odds are it is a reconditioned or will not work for very long. There is a somewhat limited selection of movies made specifically for these players, although you do not only have to purchase blu ray DVDs for use in this player. They will play any of them. The picture will be good when a regular DVD is played and will be excellent when blu ray discs are played. Next are the sound systems to complete the set. These are not required and only enhance the already great sound produced with the television and blu ray player. Theater sound systems also will vary in price, size and style. There are sets with speakers as small as a few inches up to a couple of feet tall. The choice is limited and completely up to the user as to what they prefer. The speakers should be arranged through the room as to produce the surround sound they are intended for. Remember to place wires in areas where they can be secured and not pulled or tripped on. You now have the television set, the HD DVD Player, and the sound system all that is left is the area to put them. The room you choose to create a home theater in does not have to be a unique room designed specifically for watching movies. Although it is a great get away when you can simply go to a room in the home for movie night that produces a theater feel, a living room or family room will also do the trick. When opting for a specific theater room there is sound proofing items that can be used in the room to retain the sound to the area. Seats are available as well to give the theater feel. For those who prefer to turn their family room into a movie theater only needs to grab a movie, a bowl of popcorn, turn down the lights and enjoy some family time in your new theater. |
